In Japan, women pay to make their teeth crooked!

Apparently in Japan the snaggletooth is in and the straight braces look is out. It is considered attractive in Japan to have crooked teeth. Women are said to pay money to have their straight teeth transformed to be crooked and out of whack. In fact, less than perfectly straight teeth are seen as a cute, child-like imperfection, like Americans view dimples. The Japanese trend of crookening their teeth is known as “yaeba” or “double tooth.”
Too bad that isn’t the thing to do in the U.S. In 2012 alone, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services estimates that American will spend about $110 billion for teeth whitening, braces, and other teeth-beautifying procedures. Think of how much money we’d save if we weren’t so hung up on perfection and everything being in symmetry and in straight, concise order all of the time. It would change the way we view and define beauty.
