Bugatti Veyron Super Sport loses its title of being the “world’s fastest production car” to Hennessey Venom GT. This competition of unrealistic speed and performance has a new winner as of 9 February 2013, when Hennessey Performance proudly announced the Venom GT’s speed record as 265.7 mph beating the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport by a slight margin.

Hennessey Performance CEO, John Hennessey, stated that as impressive as the performance was, the 2.9 mile runway they were testing on was “far too short for the Venom GT to reach its true top speed.” The testing was held at the United Naval Air Station Lemoore in California and recorded by VBOX officials.

Officially tagged as the Venom GT, the car has brought out a couple of debatable topics. The lotus Chassis holding that incredible power. Hennessey confirms this as he says, “The Venom GT is created from a base Lotus Elise /Exige, utilizing components including but not limited to the roof, doors, side glass, windscreen, dash, cockpit, floorpan, HVAC system, wiper and head lamps.”

So is the car quintessentially a modified Lotus full of American V8 power and twin turbochargers?

Confusion to people is the fact of Veyron Super Sport’s ability to achieve 267.8 mph during its test runs. Though it was able to do so, Bugatti chose to limit its actual production vehicles to only 258 mph. In rebuttal, John Hennessey, stated, “As impressive as the Venom GT’s 265.7 mph performance was, the 2.9 mile runway they were testing on was “far too short for the Venom GT to reach its true top speed.”

Those interested in the Venom GT a marvelous piece of power that can push out 1.244 horsepower and is able to go from 0-60 mph in just 3.05 seconds and 0-100 mph in just 5.88 seconds. It had even set a new Guinness World Record by being able to achieve 0-300 km/h in 13.63 seconds, making it the quickest accelerating production vehicle in the world.

This impressive piece of art carries a price tag of $1.2 million. Hennessey is going to produce just 29 of these 2,743-pound vehicles with the basic configuration. Hennessey claims that a quarter of the production is already sold!

However the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport still holds the title of top speed record of 267.8 mph.
