Dying Bernie Nolan's home ransacked by thieves just days after singer was told she had lost her battle with cancer

Bernie Nolan's home was ransacked by callous thieves just days after she revealed she had lost her battle with cancer.
As the the 52-year-old lay in cancer hospice criminals were rifling through her private possessions at her home in Surrey.
The thugs smashed a treasured box full of memories of her stillborn baby Kate and stole a watch she had given to her husband on their wedding day, according to reports.

Bernie's husband Ste Doneathy told the Sunday Mirror: 'We have a little box in the front room that has a padlock on it,” says Steve.'
'It’s where we keep photographs of our first daughter Kate. It’s full of pictures and sympathy cards from people and it’s got her little hospital bracelet with her name on it. They’d smashed the padlock off that and tipped it all over the floor, just in case it was full of jewellery.'
The break-in came just days after Bernie was told she had lost her battle with cancer.
Steve said: 'A nurse took me into another room, and told me we were looking at an end-of-life situation. My whole world turned upside down in a second.'
In 2010 Bernie was told she had beat the breast cancer, but in the summer of 2012 she was told that the cancer had returned.
Despite the diagnosis the former Nolans' singer was positive she could beat the disease thanks to a new drug - despite the fact doctors had said it was incurable.
But last month Bernie was told the disease had spread to her brain, liver, lungs and bones and she was moved into a hospice as the family prepared for the worst.
Steve explained how the couple had discussed Bernie's funeral. He said: 'We sat and discussed it all. The songs she wants, who she wants to read, the order of the service.
'She wanted me to go to the funeral home that buried our daughter Kate, and she wanted to be put with Kate. We talked about it with Erin too.'

Bernie had to tell her teenage daughter Erin the sad news about her fate and Steve spoke about the heart-rendering moment that she realised her mother wasn't going to get better.
He said: 'We sat her down on the bed and told her we had bad news.
She asked "Are you doing to die Mum?" We had to tell her yes.'
A spokesperson was not available for comment on Sunday.
