India is a strong democratic country where we as the public elect our rulers and leaders. Some of them are educated and some of them or not. Though it is a strong debate that whether a leader have to be educated or not, education to everyone is very important. Some of the politicians did make a change with their good deeds even though they were not educated. But in today’s fast moving world, where all nations are striving to become one of those developed countries, India also need educated politician to ensure better foreign exchange and communications. 10. Gulzar Singh Ranike

Gulzar Singh was recently appointed as the cabinet minister from Punjab state and has given as literate in his educational qualifications is one of the undergraduate.  Recently in the month of September he resigned from his position and sent his personal resignation to the Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal stating his innocence and sincerity to the party. He has served in various things in his political career while he is mainly into agriculture. 

9. Phoolan Devi

An uneducated politician who made her mark in Indian history of politics, Phoolan Devi was an illiterate and a dacoit before she stepped into politics. She was famously called as the “Bandit Queen”. She became world famous for the movie and the book based on her life story. Phoolan Devi was married to a much aged man, in her very young age and was molested by several men and a several times. Later it was believed that she was kidnapped by a group of dacoits. She married one of the dacoit and started killing people and robbing places along with the gang. People believed that she killed only the rich and stole from them to help the poor. In one of such incident after killing all the rich men in her village, Phoolan Devi agreed to surrender. She was later released on a parole and the government of Uttar Pradesh withdrew all the cases against to her. In 1996, she stood for election representing Samajwadhi Party. Though she lost at first, she was reelected and became a member of the parliament until she was assassinated.

8. Rabri Devi

No one can forget the woman who became the chief minister of Bihar when her husband Laloo Prasad Yadav was forced resign from his position due to his scandal in corruption. Rabri Devi is almost an illiterate who has not completed even her junior level schooling, was been appointed to rule the second populated state that is Bihar, and a place said to have more crimes. Rabri Devi was born in the year 1959 and was married at the age of 14. Until she was dragged by her husband into politics, she was a housewife and a mother. It is believed that Lalooji did control Bihar through his wife when she was appointed as the Chief Minister of Bihar in the year 1997. Though Rabri Devi did not have any much experience in politics, she learned fast and today she is a member of the Bihar legislative council representing from RJD party.

7. Vijaykanth

It is a natural thing in today’s India that most of the cine actors entering into politics, and the famous Tamil actor Vijaykanth is one of those film hero, who continued his journey in politics. Vijayakanth is well-known as Captain for his famous role from the movie Captain Prabhakaran. He could not pursue his education after standard 12^th and was asked to join his father’s rice mill. He won the 2011 Legislative assembly elections. He started a party called “Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam”. He has received many awards in his career of films. He could win only one seat in politics when contested for elections in the year 2006, but he won again in the year 2011.

6. Jayalalitha

Another well-known Tamil movie actress turned into politician is Ms. Jayalalitha who is the current Chief Minister of TamilNadu state. She was very good in her studies and after her matriculation, she had got a scholarship to pursue her further education, though she declined to start the career of films. She is one of those stars from Bishop Cottons Girls High Schools from Bangalore and went on continuing school in Chennai’s Presentation Convent Church Park until she got an opportunity to act in films. If she could, she was interested in becoming a lawyer and even today her interests are in studying law. She is the first woman leader in Tamil Nadu from opposition party. She was on and off a Chief Minister many a times and has a tough competition with the DMK leader M. Karunanidhi.

5. Golma Devi

The wife of the tribal leader Kirori Lal Meena, being one of the main reason to be elected in spite she being an illiterate. The chief minister of Rajasthan selected Golma Devi she was not able to read the oath to sworn in. Hence in his speech he declared that it is not necessary to be well educated to administer people and public, but they need strong leadership qualities. This was termed as the most mocking by any public. Golma declared that even though she is an illiterate, with her assistant support she will prove out to best. It was claimed that Ashok Gehlot, the Chief minister selected her as he needed the support of independent contestants to run his ruling party.

4. Karunanidhi –DMK

One of the well-known politician and ex chief minister of Tamil Nadu has claimed himself many times that he has not pursued his education further after the matriculation examinations. He is a gifted screen writer and has written many screen plays. Karunanidhi became the leader of the DMK party since the death of its leader Annadurai in 1969. He has contributed a lot to Tamil literature as well with his poems, books, screenplays, and stage plays as well. He entered politics in an early age of 14. In power it is a known controversy between him and the current chief minister of Tamilnadu Jayalalitha, a former lead Tamil film actress.  There are many cases against him involved in possible crime and his daughter was recently arrested on the 3G scam business.

3. K. Kamaraj

India is a host of many uneducated politicians, but K. Kamaraj is one of those examples who served as best as an educated politician might not do. He is one of those freedom fighter turned into a politicians. Kamaraj was born into a poor family, and had to discontinue his studies after schooling as he need to take up a job to support his family. Since his childhood days he had an interest in politics. The Jallianwala Bagh is an important twist for his entry into political life. He has participated in various freedom struggle through the National Congress party and while he was in jail he studied and learned English. In 1954, Kamaraj was elected as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. A strong follower Mahatma Gandhi, Kamaraj passed away on the day celebrated as Gandhi Jayanthi. Kamaraj passed away on October 2^nd 1975 setting an example to all politicians.

2. Jaffer Sharif

The former Railway minister from Bangalore is also a Matriculate pass. He was a driver to Nijalingappa, before he stepped into politics. He is the pioneer behind the initiation of the Wheel and Axle Company in the Bangalore, which serves in the preparation of railway trains. He was charged for spending officially money for his personal use and was registered an FIR against him. Recently he celebrated his 77^th Birthday in his home at Coles Park. Recently he sent in a resignation letter from being the leader of Congress, and was asked for a meeting by the nation’s Congress president to discuss the reasons. Though the speculation for his resignation is the denial of a ticket to his grandson, he denied the matter.

1. Vatal Nagaraj

He is an Ex MLA from the Karnataka state, who also a dropout of 10^th class. He is the president of Kannada Chalavali Vatal Paksha. He is well-known for his cap and his black- glasses. He has worked on various schemes in improvement of Kannada and the language. His fans have been insisting on presenting a statue in front of the BBMP office.
